Purpose of This Blog
After reading through the Bible several times and reading many other religious texts (Koran, Tao Te Ching, Dhammapada, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads , The Analects of Confucious, the works of several Christian saints, The Book of Morman), I find that the words of Christ stand completely apart from all other holy works. I can describe most other works as logical, describing our human perception of the mysteries of the universe. The Bible and Koran are a little different in that they cover the history of God's interactions with humanity, but though they are described as inspired by God (or in the case of the Koran, dictated by an angel of God) I see the human flaws (prejudice, greed, pride, etc.) of the author on every page. In other words, I see myself and my kind of thinking on every page. More to the point, I can grasp what all the authors of these holy books were saying and why they were saying it.
Christ's words in the Gospels are different. I cannot imagine thinking in the same way that Christ did. Christ humanity is not not flawed in the same way that I am. The more I study his words, the more patterns I find, the more depth I discover. I find myself constantly reading and re-reading the words of Christ, trying to grasp what he is saying. After turning Christ's words into a series of prayers, I still find myself discovering more and more meaning and patterns in what he said. Since I spend so much time thinking about this stuff, I decided to capture it all in a blog.
